Gabriela

"Gabriela" enrolled in CEP in 1997-1998 and made dramatic gains in attendance, behavior, grade level growth and credits earned. She did not, however, pass the reading and math TAAS tests in March 1998.

Because she had made dramatic academic and behavioral progress, but was not yet close to grade level by the end of her first school year at CEP, her home school district in Houston determined that Gabriela would benefit from another year at CEP. And she did.

Gabriela made 4.5 grade levels gain in math and 3.5 grade levels gain in reading. In October, 1998, she passed both the math and reading TAAS tests and was eligible to graduate high school. After two years at CEP, Gabriela had earned more than 3/4 of the credits she needed for high school graduation.
