A Plan for Success...
The CEP Program is based on the belief that students can improve
their academic performance and behavior if given the time, opportunity,
tools, structure and encouragement they need. Academic and behavioral
progress are accomplished and monitored through each student's individual
plan for success. In fact, CEP guarantees that all students will
make measurable improvements in academic achievement, behavior,
attendance and drop out rates. Most get back on track to graduate.
Here's how the plan works...
Orientation: CEP evaluates incoming students to determine
their current math and reading skills and to discuss what has triggered
inappropriate behavior in the past. From this process we develop
an individualized academic and behavioral plan to direct self-paced
learning and to guide appropriate behavior. Parents attend a Parent/Student
Orientation offered in the first week of referral to the program.
Academics: Academic achievement levels among CEP students
vary widely. With that in mind, all academic programs are provided
in competency-based and self-paced learning formats designed to
accelerate learning, grade promotion, and course credits earned.
CEP aligns its curriculum with each school district's curriculum
frameworks. In all of its partnerships, the CEP curriculum includes
the essential knowledge and skills required by most middle or high
school courses, with an added emphasis on those areas measured by
basic skills tests. CEP's goal is to return students to their district
schools on track to graduate with their peers.
Behavior Management: The CEP incentive-based discipline management
system rewards students for behavior and attendance improvements.
CEP's goal is to return better-behaved students to their district
schools. Students can accumulate points and learn to work as a team
member to earn incentives. Our social/life skills program includes
a focus on improving teamwork, anger management and conflict resolution.
Behavior specialists, counselors, truancy officers, probation officers
and security personnel are also on hand to assist with attendance,
behavior and other issues that arise for students and families.
