On average, our students in Houston have made 1.6 grade levels growth in reading and 1.5 grade levels growth in math when they spend 120 days or less in the CEP program. However, when students spend 180 days - the equivalent of a full school year - with us, they gained more than 2 grade levels in reading and math. Since the average student at CEP has skills that need to be mastered at the 2nd or 3rd grade level, returning students before the 180 days will reduce the reading and math gains that they need to succeed once they are reassigned to a district school.
